Aethelred II (978-1016), silver Penny, last small cross type (c.1009-17), Exeter Mint, Moneyer Carla, diademed and draped bust left within linear circle, Latin legend surrounding commences at bottom, +EÐELRÆD REX ANGLO, rev. small cross pattee at centre, linear circle with legend surrounding, +CARLA ON EAXCESTRE MO, weight 1.39g (Brettel 42; Hildebrand 496; N.777; S.1154). Peck mark on reverse and weak in some parts, otherwise very fine with a lovely full mint signature on reverse.
