Attica, Athens (c. 454-404 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm. Head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive-leaves and a palmette, rev. AΘE, owl standing right, its head facing, an olive-sprig and a crescent behind; all within an incuse square, 17.08g, 7h (Kroll 8; SNG Copenhagen 31). Well-centred and of good style, attractively toned over fresh surfaces with a little residual lustre, extremely fine, a pleasing example.
