Augustus (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), Silver Denarius. Mint of Lugdunum, struck 2 B.C. - A.D. 4. CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, laureate head facing right, rev. C L CAESARES (in exergue), AVGVSTI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT, Gaius and Lucius Caesar, both togate, each with a shield and spear, standing facing, a lituus on left and a simpulum on right above, 3.86g., 6h (RIC 210; BMC 540; C 43). A very good example, on a broad flan with virtually complete legends, attractive iridescent toning, about extremely fine, rare in this state of preservation.
