C. Calpurnius Piso Frugi (67 B.C.), Silver Denarius. Mint of Rome. Head of Apollo facing right, his hair tied with a taenia, a pyramid surmounted by a pellet (chisel?) behind, rev. C PISO L F FRVG, horseman galloping right, holding a palm and the reins, S below, 3.78g., 7h (Crawford 408/1b; Sydenham 860da; RBW 1470 var.). Well-struck in high relief, broad flan, attractive iridescent cabinet tone, small die-break on reverse, otherwise extremely fine, a rare symbol.
