Canute (1016-35), silver short cross Penny (1029-35), Ilchester Mint, Moneyer Caefel, diademed bust left with sceptre, legend surrounding with unusual double name reading commencing at top, CNV T .CNVT:, rev. pellet in annulet at centre of voided short cross, linear circles and legend surrounding, +CÆFEL ON GIFE. weight 1.14g (Hildebrand 895; SCBI 13:952; N.790; S.1159). Light tone, one peck on obverse and a few more on reverse, otherwise one light dent near top of obverse, good very fine and an extremely rare double reading of the King's name on obverse and a very rare mint.
