Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower under Parliament issue, Group G, type 44, sixth crowned bust left, stellate lace collar, double arched crown, large value XII in field behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark (R) (1644-45) both sides, .CAROLVS D; G; MAG; BRI; FRA; ET. HIB; REX., rev. long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO, weight 5.78g (Sharp G1/2; Brooker 554; N.2231; S.2800). Once cleaned with uneven patches of tone, otherwise very fine and superior to Brooker's two examples, and a very rare mint mark indeed.
