Charles I (1625-49), silver Newark siege Halfcrown, 1646, issued in time of duress on lozenge shaped flan, Royal crown, C to left, R to right, denomination XXX below in Roman numerals, beaded border both sides, rev. three line inscription and date, OBS: / NEWARK / 1646 weight 14.15g, (Bull 688; Brooker 1222; N.2638; S.3140A). Toned, good very fine, a lovely example of the final year of the Newark siege which surrendered just a few months into this year, on the 6th May 1646.
