Charles I (1625-49), silver Newark siege Sixpence, 1646, issued in time of duress on lozenge shaped flan, Royal crown, C to left, R to right, denomination XXX below in Roman numerals, beaded border both sides, rev. three line inscription and date, OBS: / NEWARK / 1646, weight 2.76g (Brooker 1228; N.2642; S.3146). Toned a little weakly struck on bottom of reverse, very fine a lovely example of the final year of the Newark siege which surrendered just a few months into this year, on the 6th May 1646.
