Charles I (1625-49), fine gold Angel of Ten Shillings, Tower Mint London, St Michael piercing dragon right, value X in left field, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark bell (1634-35) both sides, CAROLVS. D; G; MAG; BRI; FRA; ET. HI; REX, rev. three masted ship sailing left with arms on mainsail, beaded circles and legend surrounding, AMOR. POPULI. PRÆSIDIVM. REGIS, weight 4.05g (Schneider - dies O13/R11; Brooker 7 this coin illustrated; N.2145; S.2684A). Pierced for suspension as most of the small surviving population of such coins are, with great definition both sides, a bold very fine, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as UNC details "holed" as "Touch Piece", a mint mark not present in the Schneider Collection and with a very small mintage in fine gold only for use no doubt as touching pieces for the King's Evil, very rare, we can only trace three examples that have been traded of this mint mark.
