Charles I (1625-49), silver Shilling, Tower Mint, Group D, fourth smaller crowned bust left completely within inner circle, bust 4, double arched crown with plain arches, value XII in field behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark harp (1632-33) both sides, .CAROLVS D; G; MA; BR; FR; ET. HIB; REX., rev. quartered shield of arms in frame, .CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO., weight 6.16g (Sharp D4/1; Brooker 479-480; N.2223; S.2789). Toned, just a touch weak in parts, a couple of light hairline scratches in obverse field, otherwise with a strong portrait for this variety of the smaller bust, a bold to good very fine and rare.
