Charles II (1660-85), silver Halfcrown, 1680, fourth laureate and draped bust right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CAROLVS. II. DEI. GRATIA, rev. crowned cruciform shields, pairs of interlinked Cs in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB REX. edge inscribed in raised letters, +.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. . ANNO. REGNI. TRICESIMO. SECVNDO+ (Bull 489 R3; ESC 485 R3; S.3367). Slightly uneven though attractive tone with some flecking, weakly struck on bust which is soft as usual, otherwise a bold very fine and had been graded by CGS UK as VF55, with a good provenance and extremely rare.
