Lycian legend ('PERIKLE'), warrior, naked but for a crested Corinthian helmet, advancing to right, brandishing a short sword and holding a round shield; all within an incuse square, 9.89g., 3h (Olçay & Mørkholm, 'The Coin Hoard from Podalia', NC 1971, 414-8 (A2-P5); L. A wholly exceptional example with a portrait of superb Classical style struck in high relief, the reverse also better struck than often found on this issue, extremely fine and in a wonderful state of preservation.
