Edward the Confessor (1042-66),silver Penny, PACX type (1042-44) variety reading PAXX, London Mint, Moneyer Dudinc, diademed bust left with sceptre, bust to bottom of coin, legend and toothed border surrounding, +EDPE. REX ΛN:,rev.pellet in annulet at centre of short voided cross, error reading with letters P Λ X X in inner angles, +DODINC ON LVND:, weight 1.03g (cf. SCBI 18 [Copenhagen], 1045 for moneyer; SCBI Norweb 205 for var; Hild Da; BMC IV var; N.814; S.1172). Toned, small striking crack, few metal stress striations, otherwise clear legends and pleasing portrait, very fine perhaps better, extremely rare with the PAXX variation.
