Edward III (1327-77), gold Leopard D'Or, second issue of July 1356, crowned lion walking left, small crown, within tressure of nine arcs, trefoils of pellets in spandrels and on cusps, beaded circles and legend surrounding, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding with double pierced quatrefoil stops, initial mark cross pattee, EDVVARDVSxx DEIxx GRAxx AnGLIExx FRANCIExx REX, rev. six pellets in central compartment of floreated ornamental cross, lions over pierced quatrefoils in angles, all within cartouche, voided quatrefoils in spandrels, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, +XPCxx VInCITxx XP'Cxx REGNATxx XPCxx IIxIPERAT. weight 3.94g (Elias 38b RR; SCH 11; AGC 43B dies 2/a; S.8038). A little weakly struck in one quarter of reverse and corresponding part of obverse, rim bruise, some other light marks, otherwise with a good depiction of the leopard, a bold to good very fine and the rarer second issue.
