Edward the Confessor (1042-66),silver Penny, transitional pyramids type (c.1065), Dover Mint, Moneyer Wulfweard, facing crowned bust right, holding sceptre, bust to edge of coin, legend commences lower left, +EADPARD REX A,rev.voided cross within linear circle, pellet topped triangle from inner circle in each angle, legend surrounding, + PVLFPEARD ON DOF, weight 1.19g (SCBI -; BMC type XIV; Freeman 89; N.835; S.1185). Dark tone, well struck and centred, good very fine and of the highest rarity with only two known of this mint for the type and moneyer, the other example being fragmented.
