Edward VI (1547-53), gold Crown of Five Shillings, third period (15th December 1550 - 6th July 1553), Tower Mint, crowned armoured half-length figure right, holding orb and sword, Latin legend with beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark tun, pellet and comma stops, .EDWARD; VI: D; G; AGL; .FRA; Z: hIB; REX, rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield, E to left, R to right, pellet stops in legend, SCVTVm: FIDEI: PROTEGET: EVM.:, weight 2.50g (Schneider 698; N.1929; S.2452). Toned, crease in two directions, flan split part way across one crease, otherwise good fine and very rare.
