George III (1760-1820), Pattern Copper Crown, 1798, struck W J Taylor after C H Kuchler, laureate and draped bust right, : C. H. K on truncation, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX., top leaf points to centre of letter E, rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield of arms, date either side of top crown, abbreviated Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, M.B.F.ET.H.REX.F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E., edge plain (Dickinson 15 dies C/1a1; Bull 1908 R2; ESC 170; L&S 31). Has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PF64 BN, currently the only piece graded by NGC; for comparison we note PCGS have graded two examples of which one is finer.
