George IV (1820-30), gold Pattern Half-Sovereign, 1825, engraved by William Wyon after Chantrey, second bare head left, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA, date below with rosette either side, raised rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, engraved by Johann B Merlen, crowned quartered shield of arms, with a crowned escutcheon of the arms of Hanover, legend and toothed border surrounding, REX FID: DEF: BRITANNIARUM, edge plain (WR 248 R5; cf.S.3804). Pleasantly toned with some light hairlines in the fields, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as PR62DCAM, extremely rare and a very pleasing example.
