George V (1910-36), 0.500 silver Matt Proof Halfcrown, 1927, struck from sand-blasted dies, bare head left, BM raised on truncation for engraver Bertram Mackennal, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX, rev. struck en medaille, quartered shield of arms, crowned pair of interlinked Gs either side, tiny K to lower left and G to lower right of shield for engraver Kruger Gray, denomination in words at bottom with date, Latin legend with emblem and lozenge stops surrounding, *FID. DEF * IND. IMP*, thistle at start, rose at midpoint of legend, shamrock following (Bull 3733 R7; ESC 776A; Davies 1700; S.4037). Toned practically as struck, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PF65 Matte; of the highest rarity with only one other example known to us in private hands.
