George VI (1936-52), steel impression from the master die of the matrix for the reverse of the proposed 1937 Florin for the reign of George VI, an adaption of the proposed reverse design for King Edward VIII as of August 1936, dating to early 1937, crowned rose with stem and two leaves, K and G either side of stem for designer Kruger Gray, thistle over G to left, shamrock over R to right, value and date around lower half, upper half reads :FID: DEF: :IND: IMP:, weight 65.76g (cf.Giordano p.241; cf.Dyer P.8; cf.Bull p.534-5; ESC p.103; S.4081). Practically as made with concentric lines around the bevelled surface beyond the coin impression, 6mm thick overall including the bevelling, made from two pieces of metal joined around the perpendicular 5.5mm plain edge, the only impression like this we have come across, perhaps unique.
