Henry VIII (1509-47), gold Angel, first coinage (1509-26), St Michael slaying dragon, halo breaks inner beaded circle, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark castle (1509-13), hEnRIC'x V.I.I.I'x DI'x GRA'x REX'x AGL'x Zx FRA xx rev. ship sailing right, quartered shield of arms at centre, h and rose omitted, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, PERxx CRVCE'xx TVA'x SALVAxx nOSxx XPE'xx RED'x weight 5.09g (SCH -; N.1760; S.2265). Struck fully round, toned with a few slight weaknesses otherwise very fine and very rare with the h and rose omitted, a rare variety not represented in the Schneider Collection.
