Henry VIII (1509-47), silver Penny, Sovereign type, Durham Mint, issued under Bishop Cuthbert Tunstall (1530-59), facing seated figure of King on throne with orb and sceptre, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark star, h'x D'x Gx ROSAx SInEx SPIA, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, C to upper left, D to upper right, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, xCIVI TAS xDVR RAM, weight 0.58g (N.1813; S.2354). Toned, weak in parts, otherwise very fine.
