Henry VIII (1509-47), fine gold Half-Angel of three shillings and four pence, third coinage (1544-47), St Michael slaying dragon, head and shoulders break inner beaded circle, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark lis both sides, hEnRIC' 8' D'x G'x AGL'x FR'x Z'x hIB'x REX'x, rev. ship sailing right with bowsprit, annulet upon hull, quartered shield of arms at centre, h and rose either side of cross above, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, annulet stops, Oo CRVXo AVEo'x SPESo,VnICAo, weight 2.33g (Schneider 626; N.1831; S.2301). Toned, weak in parts, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as XF40 and very rare variety.
