Paleo-Hebrew legend 'Simon' within a wreath of branches wrapped around eight almonds, with a medallion at the top and tendrils at the bottom, rev. Paleo-Hebrew legend 'For the Freedom of Jerusalem', palm-branch, 3.39g., 12h (Mildenberg 65 (O14/R 37); Hendin 1416). Overstruck on a coin of the emperor Trajan, the upper part of his head and his nose still visible on the reverse, a particularly good example, lightly toned and nearly extremely fine.
