Scotland, Alexander III (1249-1286), silver Farthing, second coinage (1280-86), initial mark plain cross, inner and outer toothed borders, crowned best left with fleur tipped sceptre, reads ΛLEXΛNDER REX, rev. long cross, four mullets of six points in angles, reads SCOTORVM, weight 0.37g (SCBI Scottish coins 35:291-3; Burns 1, fig. 196; S 5063). Neatly struck on a rounded flan with some good detail, free from any of the usual edge chips, a charming small coin, near very fine, very rare.
