Scotland, James VI (1567-1625), gold Rider of 100 Shillings, 1598, seventh coinage, armoured King on horseback galloping right, date .1598. in exergue, all within inner beaded circle, initial mark quatrefoil, .IACOBVS. 6. D. G. R. SCOTOR., rev. crowned arms of Scotland, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark quatrefoil, .SPERO. MELIORA. (Burns - see note; SCBI 35:1168; SCBI58:1287-8 S.5458). Toned and a little short of flan, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU50, a very rare date.
