Scotland, James VI (1567-1625), gold Sword and Sceptre Piece of 120 Scottish Shillings, Eighth Coinage, 1601, crowned Scottish arms, the lion's head merges with a lis on the inner tressure, beaded circles and legend surrounding both sides, initial mark pellet in quatrefoil both sides, .IACOBVS. 6. D. G. R. SCOTORVM., rev. sword crossed with sceptre in saltire, crown above, thistle either side, date between stops below, .SALVS. POPVLI. SVPREMA. LEX., weight 4.94g (Burns 2, fig. 956; S.5460). Colourful tone, has been creased and straightened, otherwise with great detail in strike on the thistle heads, good very fine.
