Scotland, James VIII (b.1688-d.1766), Pattern Restrike Guinea, dated 1716, struck in silver c.1828 by dealer Matthew Young, from recommissioned original dies engraved by Norbet Roettier, laureate and cuirassed bust right, legend and toothed border surrounding, IACOBVS. VIII. .DEI. GRATIA., rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, emblematic sceptres in wrong order in angles, thistle at centre, date either side of top crown over Scottish shield, SCO AN.FRA ET. HIB REX, edge plain, weight 7.59g (Burns 2, fig.1095; Stewart 263; S.5726). Toned good very fine / almost extremely fine and rare.
