Scotland, Merchant countermark upon one third cut piece of a Spanish Eight Reales, Rothsay Mills, Isle of Bute, circa 1811, One Shilling and Eightpence, "1/8" value raised within incuse circle, legend in raised letters surrounding in incuse circle, + PAYABLE AT ROTHSAY MILLS, weight 7.33g (Manville 96; Davis 64). Toned, host coin well worn, fair to fine, countermark a pleasing very fine.
