Sicily, Gela (c. 490-475 B.C.), Silver Didrachm. Rider, naked but for a helmet, on a horse galloping right, hurling a spear from his raised right hand, rev. CEΛAΣ, forepart of a man-headed bull right, 8.47g., 11h (Jenkins Group I, 34A; SNG Lockett 758 (these dies)). A very attractive example, on a broad flan, with a particularly well-struck reverse, iridescent cabinet tone, extremely fine. Graded by NGC, Choice AU, strike 4/5, surface 4/5, fine style
