Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1880, second 8 over 7 in date, first young filleted head left of the third style, WW buried in truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. St George and dragon right, long tail to horse, no spur of hair in upper left curve, date in exergue, no initials in exergue, weight 7.97g (cf.Bentley 1223; cf.Marsh 91A; cf.S.3856A). Toned unevenly with handling and bagmarks, a bold fine.
