Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1883 M, Melbourne Mint, second young filleted head left of the third style, W.W. raised and distinct on truncation for engraver William Wyon, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. St George and dragon right, short tail to horse, date in exergue, small BP initials to upper right, the stops absent, weight 8.01g (Bentley 778; McDonald 165b; Marsh 105A; S.3857C). Toned, some light marks, hairline scratch on rear of neck and scuff near cheek, otherwise practically as struck, good extremely fine, a very pleasing coin.
