Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Sixpence, 1887, struck in silver, produced by Joseph Rochelle Thomas with Spink & Son, ornate and detailed crowned and veiled bust of Queen Victoria three quarters left, J R T raised on truncation, legend in English commences at bottom within twin linear circles surrounding, +VICTORIA. BY. THE. GRACE. OF. GOD. QUEEN. OF. GREAT. BRITAIN. EMP: OF. INDIA, cross pommée initial cross, beaded border and raised rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, Royal Arms quartered within Order of the Garter with crowned helm above, crowned lion supporter facing inwards to left, unicorn facing inwards to right both standing on leaf frame, SIX PENCE above, date in Roman numerals below, thistle, rose and shamrock emblems below, edge milled (cf.ESC 1784A R5; cf.Bull 3314). With a dusky tone with darker perimeter, light surface marks, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as PF61, of highest rarity with this variety.
