Victoria (1837-1901),gold proof Half-Sovereign, 1887, Golden Jubilee issue, crowned and veiled Jubilee style bust left, I.E.B. on truncation for designer Joseph Edgard Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA,rev.struck en medaille, crowned quartered shield of arms, date below, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled, weight 4.01g (WR 362; Hill 478G; S.3869).Some light handling marks and hairlines, nick on cheek, has been slabbed and graded by NGC details "Bent", though in our experience the proof half-sovereigns often have a dished appearance with the obverse convex and the reverse concave due to too much striking pressure on the dies in the strike and not something that would have happened since striking, therefore unfortunate that NGC will not straight grade the coin as it is otherwise practically as struck and the owner of the recent Verene collection cited below catalogued as such.
