William and Mary (1688-94), gold Guinea, 1690, variety with D of DEI struck over G, conjoined busts right, legend surrounding, GVLIELMVS. ET. MARIA. DEI. GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, Lion of Nassau as an escutcheon at centre, date either side of crown, .MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB. REX. ET. REGINA., weight 8.32g (Schneider -; cf. Bull EGC 366; Farey 0322 ER; MCE 150; S.3426). Evenly worn to centres, some flecking on reverse, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as XF40, the second we have seen of this extremely rare variety, the date also not present in the famed Schneider Collection, extremely rare.
