William and Mary (1688-94), gold Guinea, 1694, conjoined busts right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GVLIELMVS. ET. MARIA. DEI. GRATIA., toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, date either side of crown, MAG. BR. FR. ET. HIB . REX. ET. REGINA., weight 8.32g (Schneider 473; EGC 375; Farey 360; MCE 159; S.3427). Toned, though with some past cleansing and smoothing around top where once in a mount, evidence of die clash in the striking as some obverse legend ghosted through to reverse at date, almost very fine.
