William I (1066-87), silver PAXS Penny (1083-86), Wareham Mint, Moneyer Sideloc, facing crowned bust with sceptre to right, crown 1, legend and beaded circles surrounding both sides, +PILLELM REX, rev. cross pattee, each letter of PAXS in an annulet per angle, +SIDELOC ON PERE, weight 1.43g (BMC VIII 1038-1039; N.848; S.1257). Toned, a little weak in some small detail, otherwise good very fine and rare this well preserved.
