William III (1694-1702), gold Guinea, 1695, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding both sides, GVLIELMVS. III. DEI. GRA., rev. crowned cruciform shields, small lis in French arms, emblematic sceptres in angles, Lion of Nassau at centre, date either side of top crown, .MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB. REX. weight 8.38g (MCE 174; S.3458). Golden yellow tone, though perhaps once lightly cleaned, a couple of light flecks and some striated marks in fields, a little weak at hair ties, otherwise extremely fine.
